How to Wash a Horse!

•August 2, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Washing a horse can be easy, and it can be very difficult. It all depends on the horse.
Has the horse ever been washed before?
Does it like water?
Did it have a bad experience with water, and therefore afraid of it?
These are all things to consider, and so here is a safe and careful way to wash a horse, whether or not it is afraid of water or loves it! Continue reading ‘How to Wash a Horse!’

Bainbridge Classic Results!

•June 11, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Well, it was quite a weekend! Lets see, getting up at 5:30 every morning and going to bed at 10:00 takes a lot of energy! The show started on Friday, but before that, I had to go set up all my stuff at Battle Point on Thursday, and then get on my horse and do some schooling (practice). Since the ground is grass, we have to put these things called caulks in the horses shoes, which are like cleats, except for horses. They give the horse grip when they are galloping around in the wet grass. So the schooling went well, and Mindy was energetic!

Tragedy at the Kentucky Derby

•May 12, 2008 • 2 Comments

It should have been a day of celebration, but instead it turned into something completely different. Almost a quarter mile after finishing second in the Derby, Eight Belles suddenly broke down, collapsing and throwing the jockey off, breaking both front ankles. She was euthanized immediately, in front of thousands of fans. Continue reading ‘Tragedy at the Kentucky Derby’

Saddle Club Playday 2

•May 4, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Well, there was another Saddle Club Playday today! It was quite fun! I rode Snickers in the morning in two flat classes and a trot pole class, and we got a 6th in the trot poles! :D This kind of stuff is really good for him, since he is just getting to learn all of this stuff. Then, I got Mindy out. I rode her in a flat class, which, again, I didn’t place in :P . I never was the kind of person for flat classes… But then came the jumping! That was really fun, and I think we got a 6th again. But the next class was bigger, and I didn’t think I did very well, but I had to leave right away, so i have yet to find out what placing I got! :D Overall, it was definetly not as crazy as the last one!

Another Fun ‘ish’ Day at the Barn

•April 23, 2008 • 2 Comments

I was at the barn today, expectantly(because Charlotte told me too because she was bored and I had nothing else to do), and we(Charlotte and I) were shedding my pony, Cody. He is shedding so much right now! We coved the ground with his white, “snowy” hair! Our clothes got covered in his fur. Continue reading ‘Another Fun ‘ish’ Day at the Barn’
